"Gangspil 2"
Double album - 28 Traditional Danish tracks (Only released in physical form)
Over four years have passed since the first release – Gangspil GO1015.
Since then they, beside numerous small tours in Denmark, Germany, Belgium, Finland and France, have performed more than 120 concerts in the US and Canada. They began as a trio and then to a duo,
which gave them the opportunity to dig deeper into the unison playing that is at the core of their music.
It has also given them the opportunity to play with different musicians,
who each contributes with an extra dimension.
The newly relased double album called "Gangspil 2" is showcasing what Gangspil is now
and in the future.
The new album features many such friends as Malene, Vidar, Jacob, Lisbeth and Peter. In four years they have accrued too much great new material for a regular CD. That's why you now have the chance to hold something as old-fashioned as a double album in your hands. Hence the title: Gangspil 2.
The double album can be ordered with world wide delivery from the record company Go Danish Folk Music
"This release will, rightfully, prompt many to sit up and take notice of the wealth of Danish traditional music. Grand sounds, delightful spirit, even a bit of authentic hygge here and there. It is a reverent and vibrant archive of the past, made with obvious devotion." |
"Gangspil"Gangspil - Lydom, Bugge & Høirup - "Extreme Luxury Folk"
Three of Denmark’s leading folk musicians take you along on a tour around the music traditions of their home country! The first CD under the name of "Gangspil" was recorded as a trio with guitarist Morten Alfred Høirup whit whom they've also toured intensively for about four years. The title, Gangspil is a maritime word, which in English means Capstan. It is also the name of a tune from Fanø, a small island off the west coast of Denmark, where the traditional music is still very much alive. You can hear the tune on this first album. The album can be ordered with world wide delivery from the record company: Go Danish Folk Music
And a word from the musicians ..
