to everyone we met during last year's big US tours of more than 70 gigs!
We had a wonderful time touring the US in 2023, sharing stages with both new and old friends from all over. From the Pacific Northwest through Oregon and California to Arizona. No less than 8 states in the Midwest (including the huge Norsk Høstfest in Minot, ND) to an east coast tour from Massachusetts and Vermont in the north over NYC to Maryland and North Carolina..
During the summer tour we had great great times the Astoria Scandinavian Midsummer Festival in Oregon over gigs in Salem, OR, Seattle, WA and Olympia, WA to the wonderful Oldsongs Festival in Altamont, NY!

We're happy to share these news with you! The double-album "Gangspil 2" is out on the Go' Danish Folk Music label!!! It is exclusively released in physical form, and our record company will gladly ship worldwide! - click here for more info! The front cover of the new CD is painted by Nils Thorlund (based on a photo from Celtic Colours by Sean Purser) with art work by Ronni Kot Wenzell. Since 2015 we have performed more than 150 shows in North America!
We played in people's private homes, in folk clubs, sports halls, culture houses, Scandinavian centres, fiddle shops, museums, parks, cafes, churches, folk festivals, restaurants, radio stations and at quite a few Scandinavian fairs and heritage festivals. We had a great time, and we met a lot of absolutely wonderful people!!
In 2025 and 2026 we are looking forward to continue the North American journey, as well as breaking new land in the rest of the world.

Gangspil awarded Traditional Danish Folk Band of the Year 2016!

In November 2016 Gangspil received a Danish Music Award (Danish 'Grammy'), in the category of "Traditional Danish Band of the Year 2016". We're very honored, proud and happy, but maybe also a little surprised, considering the many great competitors that we were up against.
We got the award for the album, Gangspil, but also for our work promoting the great traditional music of Denmark in the US in 2016. Also Kristian was awarded 'Musician/Instrumentalist of the Year', making him a very humble, but also a very happy man. |
